Rob was born in Cape Town, South Africa. He has more than 40 years corporate business experience and served on the boards of listed and unlisted companies in South Africa. He has gained much international experience while working in New York, Washington and UK. He is the founder and executive chairman of Cape Equity Investment.
He is the Chairman of the Amy Foundation, a Non-Profit Company that provides training and development for disadvantaged communities. Currently he is a trustee of Amorim Cork, a Portuguese company established in 1850 with an office in Cape Town Winelands. Owner and director of Orange River Vineyards, a subsidiary of Klawer Cellars-exporter of bulk wines around the world.
Rob has been a board member of the Northern Cape Tourism Authority since 2010. Rob became a director of Tourism Marketing South Africa (TOMSA) in 2003 and appointed as Chairperson in 2006. He is a founding member of Siphumelele Investments with a market capitalisation of R1.5b.
Rob has been a director and shareholder of PSG Holdings, Johnnic, Protea Hotels, Fedics, Spur and Metpol Investment Enterprises, a subsidiary of Metropolitan Life in 1988.
In 1994- 2007 together with others established Akani Egoli, the founding company of Gold Reef Casino Resorts. Rob spent four years as a senior lecturer in Management and Marketing at The Cape Peninsula University of Technology (1985 – 1989) and received various scholarships to study in the UK and US.
He has been a shareholder and operator of hotels in Zanzibar, and Sierra Leone. He ownw the Savoy Hotels and Joes Easy Diner, a joint venture with UK partners that he subsequently bought out. He is shareholder and director of Ekhaya Private hospital in Kimberley. Rob owns and develop real estate in the commercial and residential sector.
